Kerala is not yet recovered from the frequent reporting of suicides related to dowry and domestic violence that happened a few weeks back. The most unfortunate and frightening thing was the victims of most cases were young and newly married girls in their 20s. This is a trigger warning for all of us that even in this 2-st century dowry-related deaths are not uncommon. It is happening everywhere in our country but due to shame and fear, most of the cases go unreported. In this condition, it is natural to show empathy to the victims, but sharing some posts or comments of condolence won’t help us to make the situation better. What we need to do is to impart the courage for all women and girls to report such issues in case they are trapped in them. We must help them to get all legal aids and bring the culprits in front of the law. Below given are some helplines working in our country to support women suffering from various problems. Share these contacts with all your loved ones so that we may be able to save at least one life.
